Each year Enel Generación Chile, in partnership with Asociación Sembra, operates the Coronel Emprende Competitive Fund, open to the entirety of the district’s very small business community. Its objective is to promote growth in local ventures, bolstering value creating in the area.
Now in its fourth year, the fund targets family business ventures that participated in the Enel Coronel Return Plan, and owner of very small businesses in the district. Informal ventures can apply for Competitive Funds of up to 500,000 pesos, and formal businesses can apply for up to 5 million pesos.
From 2017 to 2019, Coronel Emprende backed 140 projects, 72 of them run by women, and reached out to a total of 924 beneficiaries. This program is principally associated with UN Sustainable Development Goal 8, strengthening decent work and economic growth.
