Gonzalo Palacios Vásquez is an industrial civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica. He has an outstanding 44-year track record in the energy sector. He was a member of the Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE) from its creation in 1978 until the end of 1989, actively participating in the design and implementation of Chile's energy policy. He had a special participation in the new electricity law promulgated in 1982, as well as in the legal modifications introduced to the gas law at the end of the 80s decade.
Between 1989 and 1997, he prepared for the World Bank and/or various governments' studies in the energy sector about deregulation, liberalization, privatization, and regulatory frameworks in El Salvador, Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, Uruguay, and Bolivia.
In the period 1997 - 2011, he was Manager of Planning and Development of Metrogas and Corporate Manager of Subsidiaries, Studies, and Regulation of CGE S.A. between 2012 and 2015, the same period in which he was Director of the companies: CGED, Conafe, Edelmag, Edet (Argentina), Ejesa (Argentina) Binaria, Novanet, CLG and Igsa and CEO of Energía San Juan (Argentina), Tusan, Hornor, Energy Sur, and Tecnet.
From 2015 to 2018 he was an advisor to CGE S.A. being Director of the group's Chilean distributors until the date they were merged with the CGE matrix (2017 and 2018) he was also Director until October 2018 of EDELMAG in Chile and EJESA, EJSEDSA, EDET, and GASNOR in Argentina.
He currently works as a consultant mainly in the energy sector, as an independent director of the company Naturgy Ban S.A., the second-largest gas distributor in Argentina, and since April 2021, as an independent director of Enel Chile S.A.
