Enel Chile ensures constant monitoring of the activities that have an environmental relevance, which are managed through a common structure, dictated by the Enel Group, which provides guidelines for all business lines in this matter.
One of the results at national level of this continuous attention and improvement in its water footprint is the WaVE (Water Value Enhancement) project, which made possible an evaluation of the use of water resources in all thermoelectric and renewable energy generation sites, and the consequent planning of specific innovative actions for improvement, especially in areas with water stress. Enel Chile entered into a partnership with a mining company, leading to the implementation of a circular strategy in the plant's water management and improving, by 2021, the mapping of assets with progressively greater granularity.
The environmental management strategy consists of controlling any possible impact on the processes and protecting all the environmental components involved in the territory (people, water, soil, air and biodiversity, among others), ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and making rational use of available natural resources.
To support this strategy, Enel Chile has an Environmental Policy, ISO certification for the Integrated Management System, Energy Efficiency Seal and Environmental Assessment Instruments for all its power plants.
