The Colla Sustainable Tourism program in the Copiapó area of the Atacama Region, consists of implementing a management model aimed at promoting the development of tourism with local identity. This program focuses on the five communities of the Colla ethnic group, which live around the Campos del Sol photovoltaic project, in the Llanos de Varas sector, Carrera Pinto, Copiapó, in the Atacama Region. The communities include Sol Naciente, Pastos Grandes sector; Copiapó, El Bolo sector; Runa Urka, Quebrada de San Andrés; Pastos Grandes, La Cebolla sector and Sinchi Wuayra, Quebrada de San Andrés
This program has a participatory approach through workshops and conversations that address the subjects of Heritage, Identity and Territory, in a virtual way laying the foundations for a joint and collaborative collaboration process around sustainable tourism, developed hand in hand the intangible cultural heritage of the Colla communities.
The objectives of the program are aimed at:
- Implementing a sustainable tourism program based on participatory analysis activities, training and pilot experiences of tourist visits that lead to a gradual linkage with territorial and local ventures.
- Creating skills that will provide complementary services that add to the already existing offer from the communities, focused especially on cultural services, talks, internships, residence programs, tourism and heritage interpretation, training and reinforcing supplier capacities.
- Incorporating tools to manage sustainable tourism with local identity, promoting a scenario that will lead to new economic activities in this area, creating value and benefits for the communities that live in the proximity of the project.
