As part of restoring the livelihoods of the  families that  participated in Coronel's Resettlement Plan,  Enel identified  the families´  spiritual and social life  within  evangelical organizations in their  original setting  as one of the most important aspects. During Coronel's massive resettlement process  that was one of the many aspects to seriously take into consideration. The churches attended by the faithful play an extremely  important role in  communities´ spiritual activities.

Religious organizations carried out events that consolidated  the internal organization of the community, fostered healthy social coexistence, and contributed to meeting  the spiritual needs of community  members. However, these relevant players  suffered an important setback  as the religious infrastructure was not relocated together with the members of  these communities.

That is why, in September 2017, Enel signed an agreement with religious organizations affected by the resettlement and was advising them on the reconstruction of  their  church infrastructure, taking into consideration   land acquisition, construction and, finally,  equipment for such spaces so that the resettled communities  could start using them.

The agreement, called the "Memorandum of Understanding and Methodology of Work between Religious Organizations and Enel Generación Chile"  increases the instances of  dialogue with organizations and lays the groundwork for a diagnosis  that will permit to identify the effects  of the resettlement on religious organizations. All this was carried out by incorporating  the recommendations of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) aimed at  developing and implementing such projects.

Enel, together with the affected communities,  took on the tasks of building   several  churches and temples including the Adonai Temple Church, Jesucristo es el  Kirios Church, Christian Church of Filadelfia de Jesus, Jesucristo Ministerio de Restauración La Colonia Church, Cultural and Social Center Conectados con Christo,  Cultural and Social Center Diva Esperanza,  Iglesia del Señor  Church, La Hermosa Iglesia Evangélica Wesleyana Temple.

This project, which is part of  Coronel´s  Resettlement Plan  bases its work on the rights of communities,  a basic principle of Enel's Human Rights Policy and  is linked  to the line of work known as   "Housing, services and the environment". The completion of these initiatives contributes to the construction of sustainable cities at the same time safeguarding the cultural and spiritual heritage of communities, as well as creating  job opportunities and  decent work conditions by providing jobs at the construction stage.
