We are Chile’s largest electricity group in terms of installed capacity.

Enel Chile was created as the result of a corporate restructuring process that began in April 2015 in what was then Enersis S.A., a company that controlled generation, transmission and distribution businesses in four South American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. In December 2015, an Extraordinary Shareholders’ Meeting of Enersis S.A. approved the first part of the restructuring, the “Spin-Off”, creating Enersis Chile as the only vehicle for controlling the Group’s generation and distribution assets in  Chile, while Enersis S.A. was renamed Enersis Américas S.A., controlling the Group’s businesses in the other South American countries. This same spin-off process was also implemented in the subsidiaries, Endesa Chile and Chilectra S.A. In September 2016, the shareholders of Enersis Américas, Endesa Américas and Chilectra Américas approved the second part of the plan, the “Merger” as a result of which Enersis Américas absorbed the businesses of Endesa Américas and Chilectra Américas. At the same meeting, it was also agreed to change the name of Enersis Américas to Enel Américas.

In the case of the Group’s businesses in Chile, the shareholders of Enersis Chile, Endesa Chile and Chilectra approved the change of their names to Enel Chile, Enel Generación Chile y Enel Distribución Chile, respectively, in October 2016.

Enel Generación Chile in 2019 has an installed capacity of over 6,144 MW, with a total of 110 generation units located in Chile, positioning us as one of Chile’s leading power companies.

In the distribution sector, Enel Distribución Chile operates in a concession area covering more than 2,105 km2 across 33 districts of the Santiago Metropolitan Region.

We have also grown in the development of new uses of power. We are seeking to develop efficient usage of the power that Enel Distribución Chile supplies to the homes of almost 2 million Chileans.

In December 2017, Enel Chile´s Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting approved carrying out the operation denominated "Elqui", in order to perform a corporate reorganization to merge the assets of Enel Green Power Latin America S.A. in Chile by means of their incorporation. In this way, all of the Enel Group’s generation operations in the country -both conventional and non-conventional renewable- would be managed by Enel Chile through its subsidiaries.

In Chile, Enel Green Power has an installed capacity of 1.2 GW through a technological portfolio that includes hydroelectric, wind, photovoltaic, and geothermal power. This capacity, combined with that of Enel Generación's renewable plants, exceeds 4,730 MW representing 45% of Chile's renewable capacity. The company is continuously growing, with a solid portfolio of projects that seek to increase its contribution to the national energy matrix through the development of new renewable plants.

The success of the Elqui Plan meant consolidating Enel Chile's leadership in the domestic electricity generation industry, as a more competitive and diversified company. The operation also represented new opportunities for growth, as an ERNC operator, thus strengthening Enel Chile as a leader in conventional and non-conventional generation and energy distribution in the country.

We are part of Enel, a global power company and one of the principal integrated operators in the world’s energy and natural gas industries.
