Enel Chile is present in the sector of renewable energies in the country through Enel Green Power, a company which operates a technological portfolio including hydroelectric, photovoltaic and geothermal energies.
Throughout the country it operates a portfolio of 36 plants with a total combined installed capacity exceeding 4,730 MW, corresponding to 45% of Chile’s renewable capacity. Out of its installed capacity, 642 MW correspond to wind power, through 9 wind farms, 492 MW are produced from solar energy and are generated by 8 photovoltaic plants and 3,548 MW are produced by 18 hydroelectric power plants.
Also, along with ENAP, the company constructed the Cerro Pabellon geothermal plant, with an installed capacity of 48 MW. Inaugurated in September, 2017, located at 4,500 meters above sea level in the county of Ollagüe, Region of Antofagasta, being the only geothermal power plant in South America, apart from being located at the highest altitude of any plant of its type in the world.
The evolution of the company is undergoing continuous growth, being projected to increase its contribution to the national power matrix, thanks to the development of new renewable plants associated to the different tenders awarded to Enel Green Power, and by means of which it shall continue generating more clean energy for Chile.
