Description: El Avellano is an associative undertaking offering natural products based on Chilean hazelnuts, in order to protect the community's native forest and to generate a source of employment for the community.

Some of the products made by the agricultural cooperative are hazelnut flour and coffee, as well as roasted hazelnuts which may be found during the season, from April on.

In particular, the Agricultural Cooperative will become a purchasing power in the territory related not only to the collection of hazelnuts, but also to historical products of the Pehuenche culture, that find a place in the national and international market. Such products have been collected and consumed for generations in the territory and correspond to different types of fungi (Morchella, Changles, Digüeñes, among others); fruits, such as peaches, apples, cherries present in their orchards; and the piñón or pine nut from the Araucaria tree, as the main energy source, with a high probability of reaching the national market.

Location: District of Alto Biobío/ El Avellano Community/ Biobío Region
