The electricity distribution networks are in a natural process of modernization, becoming increasingly digital and intelligent, opening up to the possibility that users not only be consumers of energy but also can generate power to cover their own needs.
In this regard, Enel Distribución has opened a door for distributed generation to become a reality in Chile, and today it is the main player in the development and sales of photovoltaic projects in the residential sector, thanks to the implementation of a commercial structure which has enabled it to provide its customers with information and offers of self-generating solutions, providing them with technical and operational support for these systems.
In addition to responding to requests for connections to the network, the company offers custom projects and kits for photovoltaic installations, ranging from 1kWp to 3kWp. Each kit includes the equipment installed in "turnkey" mode, additionally including the inspection and revision of the customer’s connection to the power grid, the SEC declaration, and all the necessary tests for putting the solar system into service.
To date, the company has more than 120 connected customers, which generate about 1.6GWh of energy a year, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 500 homes, taking into consideration an average residential customer.
These advances are the consolidation of a new way of relating to customers, which allows households to generate their own energy from a renewable source such as the sun, contributing to the control of greenhouse gas emissions, fulfilling a double role including the protection of health and the environment.
