Los Cóndores Hydroelectric Power Plant
The Los Cóndores run-of-river hydroelectric power plant is located in the upper basin of the Maule River and has a net installed capacity of 153 MW.
The only one of its kind, it was developed subway, using specific technology for its construction, such as a special tunnel boring machine, which made it possible to overcome the different geological challenges posed by the terrain where it is located.
The generation of Los Cóndores is in charge of two Pelton-type turbines, which, located in the machine cavern of this run-of-river hydroelectric power plant, are capable of turbining a maximum of 25 m3/s and thus generating around 350 GWh per year, renewable energy that will be injected into the National Electric System, avoiding the emission of 70,721 tons of CO2.
