Abanico Hydroelectric Power Plant

The Abanico power plant is owned by Enel Generación Chile S.A. and is located 90 km east of Los Ángeles, Biobío Region.

It is one of Enel's oldest power plants, built in 1948. Among the Laja power plants, Abanico is one of those with the greatest historical value, even compared to all of Enel Chile's power plants today. Abanico was one of the first three power plants built by Endesa in 1948 (together with Pilmaiquén and Sauzal), as part of the first part of the National Electrification Plan developed by Corfo in 1939. It has an installed capacity of 93 MW.
