Enel Group successfully completes the electrical connection for the new Claro Arena Stadium, marking a significant milestone before its inauguration

Recognized as the most sustainable stadium in Latin America, it will be powered entirely by renewable energy. Santiago, June 25, 2025 - The connection process was successfully completed, energizing the new Claro Arena stadium for Club Deportivo Universidad Católica. This marks a significant milestone for conducting operational tests ahead of the inauguration of this modern facility, which can hold 20,000 people. Notably, it is the first 100% sustainable stadium in Latin America and will soon open its doors to host major sports and artistic events.

Enel X and Enel Generación will act as energy partners for the new stadium, which will be the first to be fully powered by 100% renewable energy. The project involves installing a photovoltaic self-supply system and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The connection to the new stadium includes both civil and electrical work. It is designed to have a total installed capacity of 1,500 kW, which can supply approximately 250 homes. This setup ensures a reliable power supply for the stadium's regular operations.

The new facilities will include a renewable energy self-generation plant with a solar photovoltaic system. This system is expected to produce 350 MWh of energy annually, using 400 high-quality solar panels on the stadium's roof. This energy output will be enough to power six soccer matches each month. Additionally, for any energy needs beyond this, there will be a contract to supply 100% renewable energy, certified at its source, totaling 2.4 GWh per year. This energy will come from solar, wind, hydro, or geothermal sources.

This will be extended for six years, making Chile's first stadium to be powered entirely by clean energy. The use of renewable energy in the supply contract will cut CO2 emissions by approximately 1,700 tons. This is equivalent to planting 97,600 trees, removing 565 cars from the roads yearly, or offsetting the CO2 emissions of 319 homes.

The modernization of the Claro Arena stadium boosts its status as a leading example of sports infrastructure and offers a new venue in Santiago for planning events. The stadium's electrical needs require high reliability and quality standards.
