- "Energy in your neighborhood" is an initiative highlighting the daily efforts of Enel Distribución's technical teams, who carry out upgrades and maintenance on electrical networks. Residents of Maipú, Huechuraba, Ñuñoa, and Pudahuel have had the opportunity to join the crews in the field and see firsthand the key work the company performs to maintain a reliable and safe supply of energy and services.
- The program is part of other similar initiatives, like community inaugurations of new medium-voltage networks that support the city's growth.
Pruning trees, repairing poles, inspecting circuits, and replacing electrical infrastructure components are some of the preventive maintenance tasks that Enel Distribución crews regularly perform, in both winter and summer.
To bring these projects closer to the community, the company launched "Energy in your neighborhood," a program that includes special maintenance days with over 120 technicians working simultaneously at different key points in a sector. The goal is to assess the condition of the networks, strengthen the infrastructure, and make necessary improvements to ensure the continuity and quality of the electricity supply.
"We have been part of a working group with Enel Distribución for several months. They have been doing intensive work in our sector: upgrading electrical networks, pruning trees, and repairing poles. These are much-needed improvements for our community, as our networks were in need of a serious overhaul," says Tusnelda Urra, president of the Villa Olímpica de Ñuñoa Neighborhood Council.
The program has been active since last August and has already reached Ñuñoa, Maipú, Huechuraba, and Pudahuel, with the support of the respective municipalities within Enel Distribución's concession area in the Metropolitan Region. Besides demonstrating how the electrical system operates, the project aims to create a space for direct communication with residents, who can ask questions or make requests related to their service. To achieve this, in addition to trucks and crews, the company has a mobile electrical office where customers can perform the same procedures as in a commercial office: check consumption, request payment plans, verify account status, or request connections, among other services.
“We are very grateful to Enel for their support. They visited our community and completed the work promptly, providing solutions quickly,” says Carmen Arancibia, president of the Neighborhood Council of the Las Canteras Social Condominium in Huechuraba.
"Energy in your neighborhood" will continue to be developed gradually across various municipalities within Enel Distribución's concession area. The goal is to strengthen the electricity grid, improve service quality, and foster community relationships through dialogue, transparency, and collaboration. It will also support other strategic projects by the company, such as deploying new infrastructure like medium-voltage networks in different parts of the capital.
