Enel’s two fundamental commitments in its relationship with communities are: to be a key support for the energy transition of communities and to become a key ally in the fight against climate change. As part of this vision, efficient and autonomous lighting projects were inaugurated in various public spaces in Quintero and Quillota.
Quintero Innovability*
A sustainability plan was designed, together with the Quintero communities, through which 3 photovoltaic generation projects were developed for a total installed potential of 6 kW, as well as 12 autonomous street lights for public roads, playgrounds, and the El Estuche viewpoint area. In addition, a replacement process was carried out changing the old light bulbs for new LED lighting at the social headquarters belonging to the El Estuche and El Bosque de Loncura neighborhood organizations. Both initiatives are part of the "Quintero Innovability" Sustainability Plan for that town, and represent the commitment to innovation and sustainability to enhance urban development and improve the quality of life of its residents.
Autonomous LED lamps and autonomous solar street lights
In the same way, in Quillota, two public lighting projects were inaugurated, incorporating autonomous solar lighting systems, in the El Cajón sector and in the San Pedro crossing, and 1 LED lamp project in the 4th Compañía de Bomberos (Fire Station) in the same district, for a total of 3 kW installed. The three projects, which are part of the San Isidro plant’s Sustainability Plan, were developed during 2018 and were inaugurated in December 2018 and February 2019.
These projects are the results of the joint work carried out with the inhabitants of the San Pedro sector and Enel Generación, which resulted in the Territorial Sustainability Plan, with initiatives that create value in the community, together with promoting the development of clean, efficient, and sustainable energy.
