Environmental Assessments

The sustainability and innovation areas at Enel Chile are continually improving and seeking out new solutions to drive the country towards sustainable development, through the integration of clean and accessible energy, which is considered within and guides all of its projects.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 13, which promotes Climate Action, along with the “2018-2022 Energy Roadmap,” led by the Ministry of Energy, are the first things considered when looking for new opportunities for operations, carrying out an exhaustive research phase from a 360° perspective, developed by the areas of Health, Safety, Environment, Sustainability and Quality, while considering all environmental components existing in the area to design its projects in a way that is environmentally sustainable and gives priority to communities and their surroundings.

Along with this, each time the Company evaluates a new project, it performs prior impact studies that consider a systematic assessment of the potential effects on ecosystems, in order to avoid operations in areas with a high biodiversity value, adopting the best solutions to mitigate possible impacts on biodiversity in the areas where it operates.

Enel Chile's actions go beyond its role in the electric industry, highly valuing the different Ecosystem Services provided by nature, and performing highly relevant studies in over 43,500 hectares of native forest across four of the country's regions.

Enel Chile's projects are submitted to the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA), in accordance with Law 19,300 (Law on Environmental Foundations) and incorporate the perspective of Government Services which enforce the environmental measures of each project as an obligation to protect the environment.
