Energy Efficiency has proven to be a fundamental part of the path to sustainable development as it considers environmental, economic, and social impacts. From these three dimensions, Enel Distribución Chile has defined one of its strategic lines of action as holding conversations around responsible electricity consumption and the efficient use of energy. This initiative aims to promote behavioral changes among individuals to bridge the energy poverty gap and raise awareness of the effects and impacts of their consumption actions on the environment, their family budget, and their quality of life.
In these conversations around Energy Efficiency, participants receive information on the fair energy transition, types of energy and their uses, the energy route, an explanation of electricity rates, and relevant concepts to understand their electric bill, customer service channels, and tools such as the online outage map, among others. In this way, we hope to foster new responsible energy consumption behaviors in each home without diminishing their quality of life while protecting the environment and promoting sustainable actions.
The initiative has advanced in collaboration with municipalities, neighborhood councils, local NGOs, and other social organizations. In 2021, over 3,000 people from 32 communities in our concession zone participated in these talks. Additionally, to facilitate access to content, the workshop was adapted to an audiovisual format and was posted to social media, where he received over 300,000 unique views.
