Enel Chile's commitment to foster community development is not limited to providing energy to more people, but also to strengthening its social and environmental footprint.
In the Nogales district (Valparaíso), we have trained a group of five women from the community of Coronel (Concepción) for a month and a half, who have agreed to lead the challenge of adopting biotechnology to learn how to build their own projects .
Biotechnology is an incredible innovation in building materials, since upon using living microorganisms together with manufactured materials it will generate spectacular and efficient results for energy savings.
Although there were many women interested in the workshop, several had to retire due to the time and distance involved, since the training required leaving Coronel and moving to the Eco Technologies exploration center, located near Nogales.
Finally, five women decided to embark on this unknown path and were so delighted with the challenge that in 45 days they managed to feel capable of starting to build something new on their own and in June of this year they will start the construction of a community center for the Neighborhood Association, sharing their knowledge in bio-construction with all the neighbors, thereby installing new skills in the district.
"I have learned so much that now I can say that I am capable of building my house wherever I want and like I want," says Elba Gutierrez, one of the beneficiaries of this eco-technological exploration center.
This project is part of the first stage of the CSV plan that Enel Chile will implement in Bocamina, and it was done so that the beneficiaries can transfer their learning and skills to more women.
"I am fascinated. Now I realize that the company stands with the district and will support us in whatever we propose. Our dream is to build our community center and to train other people ourselves, "says Claudia Sandoval, another of the apprentices of this project.
The Bioconstruction Course for Coronel's neighbors is already bearing its first fruits. In a few months, these five women of different ages and backgrounds, will build their own community center in Coronel to impart their knowledge on the subject.
