  • Two Sodimac stores in Chile have installed advanced electrical equipment from Enel X, and another 10 stores across seven regions of the country will upgrade their air conditioning systems this year, helping to protect the environment and enhance the experience for customers and employees.
  • The project is part of Enel's integrated energy solutions, which includes the electricity supply contract through Enel Generación and the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles at various Sodimac stores across Chile.

Santiago, September 10, 2025. Enel X and Sodimac Chile have launched two projects to modernize the air conditioning systems at Sodimac stores in La Reina and Las Condes. The project reinforces both companies' commitment to sustainability, electrification, and energy efficiency, providing high-quality air conditioning solutions and maximum comfort for customers and employees at Latin America's leading home improvement company.

The implementation of these solutions, based on advanced technology, includes 38 compact 100% electric pumps with centralized control that enables the management of internal environmental conditions and real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels. These sophisticated devices utilize refrigerants with a lower environmental impact.

These new air conditioning systems feature more modern and sustainable technologies that enhance operational performance and comfort in the store. This initiative is expected to save about 30% in energy costs each month compared to the previous system at the Las Condes and La Reina stores.

The agreement between Enel X and Sodimac includes a contract for corrective and preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and spare parts. The warranty covers the entire duration of the contract, and the service features a 24/7 call center.

Karla Zapata, the general manager of Enel X, emphasized that "projects like these make us very happy and proud, not only because they raise the standard of operational sustainability for companies, but also because they significantly improve comfort conditions for all their customers and employees who visit the stores, using cutting-edge technology that is 100% electric and environmentally friendly. Modernizing air conditioning systems and equipment for large spaces presents a key challenge, which we have solved together with Sodimac, leaving us very satisfied."

Eduardo Mizón, general manager of Sodimac Chile, emphasized: “With the modernization of air conditioning systems together with Enel X, we aim to create more comfortable environments for our employees and customers in stores. Additionally, these intelligent systems enable us to significantly cut energy use and reduce our carbon footprint, which aligns with our environmental commitments. Moreover, the operational efficiency of these technologies helps us lower costs over the long term, allowing us to invest more in store development and improved customer service."

Sodimac announced that the collaboration with Enel X will allow these systems to be installed in 10 more stores by the end of 2025. These stores are located in Iquique, Antofagasta, La Calera, Talca, Concepción, and Temuco, as well as in the Metropolitan Region within the municipalities of Las Condes (Kennedy), La Florida, Maipú, and Ñuñoa. These locations will upgrade their air conditioning systems to include energy-efficient features, improving comfort for both customers and staff.

This alliance strengthens the relationship between the two companies, which already has an electricity supply contract through Enel Generación and charging points for electric vehicles installed by Enel X at various Sodimac stores nationwide.

With this agreement, Sodimac accelerates its transition to low-carbon operations. The company now derives 70% of its energy from renewable sources and has an electric mobility policy that includes an electric fleet for customer deliveries. Additionally, it has offset all emissions from home deliveries for years and implemented other measures as part of its environmental program.
