- The Belgian multinational's new distribution center will have 528 high-efficiency panels and an energy management platform that will contribute to the company's carbon neutral commitment.
Santiago, December 12. The growth plan for Chile and the Southern Cone of the Belgian company dedicated to the bakery, pastry and chocolate industry, is focused on sustainable development framed in its commitment to a "Better Planet", whose plan has defined goals to achieve carbon neutrality, water balance and the cessation of waste generation. Under this commitment, the new distribution center was built in the Cerrillos district, Metropolitan Region, which will have a solar photovoltaic system on its 290 KWp roof, which was installed by Enel X.
Puratos Chile and Enel X agreed to introduce renewable energy into the company's sustainability processes. As part of this project, a solar photovoltaic system and an Energy Management System (EMS) were installed on the roof of the new distribution center. 528 high-efficiency 550 Wp panels were integrated with 5 Huawei inverters to double the company's storage capacity. The EMS is a digital energy management platform that monitors real-time consumption. This installation expects to produce an estimated annual energy production of 448 MWh.
The project was implemented using the ESCO model. This means that the cost is paid in monthly installments using the energy produced by the photovoltaic plant. Moreover, the ESCO model ensures that Puratos Chile receives a fixed discount on the energy tariff.

The photovoltaic plant will allow Puratos to generate its own energy resources based on clean energies that reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to the environment where its operations are located.

Enel X partnered with Solcor to develop the solar photovoltaic project for Puratos Chile's new distribution center, which took six months to complete.
The state-of-the-art technology used in this implementation will avoid the emission of about 180 tons of CO2e per year, equivalent to the positive impact of planting 450 trees.
