  • During 2022's third quarter Tottus will enable another six supermarkets with fast charging technology.
  • The partnership seeks to promote the use of electromobility in the country and continue with Enel X Way's electro route plan, aiming to connect Chile with electric chargers.

Santiago, September 2, 2022 – Tottus launched its first fast-charging electric car charging station at its Geronimo de Alderete store as part of an agreement between Enel X Way and Infraestructura Falabella, designed to install charging points for electric vehicles at the Group's different business units in Chile.

The first-of-its-kind charging point in a supermarket has two 60 kW JuicePump chargers capable of simultaneously delivering energy to 4 vehicles, with an estimated charging rate of between 20% and 80% in approximately 35 minutes.

The government's "National Electromobility Strategy" establishes that by 2035 only electric vehicles will be sold in Chile. Enough charging infrastructure is also essential for encouraging electric transportation development to continue our efforts toward environmental protection.

Tottus Chile's General Manager, Alejandro Delgado, said, "at Tottus, caring for the environment is paramount, and our work with Enel X Way is another sign of our ongoing commitment. We are proud to be the first to have this efficient charging technology and to contribute to the country's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050. We plan to implement this service in 6 more stores by this year's third quarter."

In the coming months, we will open stores in Padre Hurtado, Vicuña Mackenna, Vivaceta, La Cisterna, Nataniel Cox, and Catedral, thus contributing to a broad coverage in the Metropolitan Region. We seek to enhance and promote the implementation of electric vehicles in cabs, customers, and last-mile fleets, the latter being a crucial part of Falabella S.A.'s sustainability strategy.

The fast charging stations opened today are part of the agreement with Tottus and Grupo Falabella to promote the implementation of electric vehicles in cabs, Tottus customers, and last-mile fleets, the latter being a vital part of the Group's sustainability strategy.

"As Enel X Way in Chile, we are focused on accelerating the transition to more sustainable mobility. The work conducted with Tottus allows us to move forward in promoting electromobility, achieving greater coverage and convenience for users", explained the general manager of Enel X Way Chile, Jean-Paul Zalaquett.

For his part, the general manager of Infraestructura Falabella, Diego Vergara, commented, "we are aware that in the future, electricity will be one of the main sources of energy for transportation. Our company continues to deepen its commitment to sustainable development, working on future electromobility challenges for our operations and the benefit of our customers".

Through the free-to-download JuicePass app, users can interact with the intelligent charging platform, allowing for easy use and payment, allowing complete control of the charging experience.
