Santiago, October 6, 2022. HIF Chile and Enel Green Power Chile (EGP Chile) decided to withdraw the Faro del Sur wind power study from the Environmental Assessment System.

The companies considered that more observations were made than usual by certain public entities during the assessment of the wind power park, despite having provided all the information required by law. In light of the exceptional demands, it is essential to understand which requirements can be incorporated and which ultimately make these types of regional projects inviable.

HIF Chile and EGP are convinced of the value of developing renewable energy and the green hydrogen industry for the Magallanes region, as well as Chile's potential leading role in the fight against global climate change. However, to advance in this area, the authorities must provide clear guidelines for companies regarding their expectations for regional development while protecting the communities and the environment.

The project, designed to have a capacity of 325 MW, considers the installation of 65 latest-generation windmills and an investment of US$ 500 million.
