O'Higgins Region, August 2, 2026 - Enel Generación reports that, given the current weather conditions, which have led to a natural but significant increase in inflows to the Rapel Hydroelectric Plant reservoir, spillway gate opening maneuvers will begin tomorrow, Monday, August 3rd.
These actions are taken as preventive and early management measures during reservoir operations, helping to reduce the potential impact of this weather event on the Rapel River's flow, which could affect communities downstream of our facilities. Our goal is to optimize the reservoir's buffering effect against potential upstream floods.
The maneuvers outlined above have been coordinated with and previously communicated to the relevant authorities, including agencies responsible for basin management, the National Electric System, and reservoir operations.
We request residents, particularly those living in the riverbank zones downstream of our plant, as well as tourists, to exercise caution and avoid waterways and disposal sites to prevent potential hazards.
