Alto Biobío, August 4, 2026 - Enel Generación states that due to recent weather conditions causing a natural and substantial rise in inflows to the Ralco Hydroelectric Plant reservoir, spillway gate openings will commence tomorrow, Wednesday, August 5th.
These measures are proactive reservoir management strategies designed to reduce the impact of weather events and lower the risk of heightened flow in the Biobío River that could affect downstream communities. Our goal is to improve the reservoir's ability to buffer against potential upstream floods.
The maneuvers described earlier were coordinated and communicated beforehand with relevant authorities, such as basin management, the National Electric System management, and reservoir operations.
We advise residents, especially those living along the riverbank downstream of our plant, as well as tourists, to exercise caution and steer clear of waterways and disposal sites to avoid potential hazards.
