Alto Biobío, August 26, 2026 – Enel Generación Chile reports that, due to current generation conditions in the National Electric System and given that the Pangue reservoir is nearing its maximum authorized level, operations to partially open the spillway gates will begin today. The goal is to maintain the reservoir’s level at its maximum authorized level. These actions could cause occasional fluctuations in the flow of the Biobío River.
These operations have been previously coordinated with and reported to the authorities, including those responsible for watershed management, the operation of the National Electric System, and reservoir administration. The plant continues to operate normally and in accordance with strict technical and safety protocols.
The company urges residents in the area to stay away from the discharge zones so as not to interfere with the scheduled activity and to avoid hazardous situations.
