Santiago, September 9, 2023. Due to recent rainfall and a forecasted downpour this weekend causing an increase in flows in the Cachapoal and Tinguiririca basins, Enel Generación will be conducting preventive discharge maneuvers in the Rapel reservoir.
Approximately 300 m3/s of water will be released from this afternoon onwards to manage the reservoir level and minimize the impact of the flow on downstream communities.
The maneuver will also help to prevent potential floods upstream. These actions have been reported to the relevant authorities and are regularly reviewed and reevaluated based on weather forecasts to ensure the safety of nearby communities. Enel Generación urges residents in the area to take necessary precautions and avoid watercourses and dumping sites to prevent any hazardous situations.
