Public Declaration

Santiago, January 12, 2021. After more than two months of negotiations, including mandatory mediation with the labor department, Enel Generación Chile has been unable to reach an agreement with Endesa's National Union of Engineers and Professionals (SIEP). The union began a legal strike at 00:00 hours on Tuesday, January 12. As a result, Enel Generación has had to halt operations of its Bocamina 2 thermoelectric plant, limit operations of its generators and suspend the contracts and benefits of the striking workers for the duration of this process. Throughout 2020, which has been one of the most challenging years in our history, Enel Generación has closed 3 of the 4 collective bargaining processes it has faced.

This is a reflection of the good relationship the company has with its unions. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach an agreement with SIEP so far.

We hope that this situation will be solved through dialogue and mutual understanding as soon as possible. We maintain our total commitment to reach an agreement along the same lines as those that have successfully been negotiated to date.
