Statement

Santiago, August 16, 2024 - During the recent catastrophic weather conditions, Enel Distribución Chile S.A. has responded timely and adequately to each of the requirements formulated by the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) to restore power supply to its customers, which is why we were surprised by its statement, as well as by the statements of the Minister of Energy. Nevertheless, we are confident that once the SEC has all the relevant information and documentation, it will make a positive evaluation. It was an extraordinary and unpredictable storm, with winds of up to 124 kilometers per hour in the Metropolitan Area. It caused the fall of more than 2,000 trees, 800 poles, and large branches that destroyed the overhead distribution network and whose damages are only comparable to those observed during the 2010 earthquake.

Enel Distribución Chile deployed all human, logistical, and material efforts available, even obtaining reinforcements from Italy and other Latin American countries, sparing no costs, with the aim of responding to our customers, who are our main concern.

All of the above was carried out in full compliance with current electrical regulations and SEC instructions. We will continue to work with the seriousness and responsibility that defines our company.

Today, we are still on site working for our customers to rebuild and repair the extensive damage the network suffered.

Enel Distribución Chile will continue to promote more resilient grids that allow us to face abnormal, unusual, and increasingly deep climatic phenomena.
