- In its 22nd version and on a day when the International Day of Sport and Peace is also celebrated, this emblematic children's soccer tournament will once again excite those who will play in it.
- Thirty-two teams of boys and girls from 16 communes of the Metropolitan Region, belonging to Enel Distribución Chile's concession zone, will bring this new version of the Enel Cup to life.
Santiago, Saturday, April 5, 2025—Since its inception, the Enel Cup has significantly contributed to the sports development of over 100,000 boys and girls who have participated in the tournament over its 22 editions. In many cases, it has also served as a launching pad for the professional careers of many outstanding soccer players in our country.
The children's tournament, established in 2002, is closely linked to improving soccer practice spaces. It began with a project to provide better lighting for various multi-pitches in the communes of Enel Distribución's concession area.
This year, the Cup returns in a new format to highlight the two characteristics that have made it so beloved among those who have experienced it.
"We are excited to host this wonderful tournament once again. We take pride in its positive impact on the sports development of many participating boys and girls. Additionally, the Copa Enel allows Enel Distribución to remain active in the communities, promoting sustainable recreation in safe spaces," said Giuseppe Turchiarelli, general manager of Enel Chile.
As has been the case throughout its history, this tournament will be led by Iván Zamorano, the legendary captain of the Chilean National Team and the official ambassador of the Enel Cup. He will motivate the various men's and women's teams to give their best in pursuit of victory. Additionally, he will accompany the winners of both categories to participate in a unique experience at an official "La Roja" match, part of the qualifiers for the next World Cup.
"We are thrilled about the return of what I consider the most important children's cup in Chile. This initiative has a great deal of responsibility because we understand that many boys and girls are eager for this opportunity, which often serves as their first step toward a professional soccer career. Additionally, I want to emphasize that the Enel Cup is not only about soccer; it is also a platform where participants can develop important skills related to sportsmanship and social issues," said Iván Zamorano, the official ambassador of the Copa Enel and a historic captain of the Chilean National Team.
Copa Enel, recognized as one of the premier soccer development programs in the country, is returning this year with a new format. Sixteen boys' teams and sixteen girls' teams will participate, divided into four groups. The teams will compete against each other in the first round. The top teams from each group will then advance to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and finals for both categories. All matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend of Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13.
