- As part of the “Santiago is Painted with Joy” project, Enel Distribución will promote facade painting and the creation of community murals in the districts of Santiago and La Reina during August. The interventions, covering 4,050 square meters, will use photocatalytic paint, an innovative technology that helps reduce air pollutants.
Art, citizen participation, and sustainability are interconnected in Santiago Pinta de Alegría, an initiative designed to revitalize public spaces and foster community coexistence through urban projects created in collaboration with residents and local organizations. This project encourages communities to take an active role in shaping the interventions, choosing colors, and constructing works that embody each neighborhood's identity and history.
This year, Enel Distribución is collaborating on initiatives to renovate facades and create community murals in Santiago and La Reina. The company is also working on projects to enhance electrical infrastructure in those districts.
In August, two painting sessions will take place, covering 4,050 square meters. Neighbors, volunteers, and local artists will collaborate to restore and beautify shared spaces.

The initiative seeks to create a positive impact beyond merely transforming environments visually. It aims to strengthen community ownership and foster social integration by building a sense of belonging and encouraging use of public spaces. It also includes an environmental component through the use of photocatalytic paint from Photio, a technology that helps reduce air pollutants and supports the city's sustainability efforts.
“We created an additive for paints that mimics photosynthesis when exposed to light, helping to clean the air. Every square meter treated with this nanotechnology has the air-purifying power equivalent to two mature trees,” stated Photio General Manager Matías Moya.
Thanks to this partnership, Enel Distribución will cover 4,050 square meters with Photio technology, matching the pollution reduction of 8,100 mature trees. This effort continues to strengthen its engagement with local communities by supporting projects that integrate territorial development, innovation, and sustainability to improve residents' quality of life.
