Enel Distribución strengthens its network in the eastern sector by conducting preventive maintenance on one of its critical infrastructure

On Wednesday, April 1st, Enel Distribución performed preventive maintenance on the La Posada power line, which supplies the municipality of Lo Barnechea. This effort aimed to reinforce the network and enhance service reliability. 27 technical teams completed the work in a single day as part of the company's annual winter readiness plan to minimize weather-related disruptions to its infrastructure.

The La Posada power line spans 46 kilometers, comprising 43 km of overhead lines and 2.8 km of underground lines. It is equipped with 88 transformers, enabling it to supply electricity to around 2,800 customers in the eastern part of the capital, primarily serving Farellones Road and nearby areas, including Los Cóndores Road toward La Parva and El Colorado.

Due to the geographic conditions of the pre-mountainous area — rugged terrain and exposure to harsh climates — this line poses a particular challenge for network operations. For this reason, the company specifically coordinated clearing vegetation in contact with or projecting onto the power lines; maintaining, cleaning, and retightening insulators and connections; reinforcing and replacing poles; and segmenting the network to improve fault isolation and reduce response times to potential contingencies, among other tasks.

These measures strengthen the resilience of the electrical infrastructure and ensure a more reliable, secure supply to customers in Lo Barnechea's pre-Andean sectors during the winter season.
