Santiago, August 2025 — Enel Distribución and the Municipality of Independencia are teaming up to reduce energy poverty in the "Cité Echeverría" neighborhood through this program, which has helped more than 150 families since its start.
For over five years, Enel Distribución has been supporting programs to reduce energy poverty through initiatives like “Tu Energía, Tu Hogar” (Your Energy, Your Home), leading to real savings for families in its service area.
This year, the project will involve 30 families from Cité Echeverría in the municipality of Independencia, who will benefit from a collaborative partnership between the municipality and the Corporation for Innovation and Social Development.
The project's symbolic launch occurred on August 6 at the LAPAZ482 Citizen Laboratory, where the initiative was introduced to the community. This was followed by a neighborhood tour to identify the most urgent needs.
During August, a socio-energy assessment will be conducted in each household to identify the most critical gaps and define priority interventions. Possible measures include:
- Enhancements to electrical systems for better safety.
- Replacing heating and hot water systems with more efficient options.
- Swapping appliances for low-energy models.
- Providing energy efficiency kits.
"The best thing Enel can do is offer us a good deal, not just for me, but also for the 30 houses that make up this area. I gathered all the signatures in one day because it's important work; good lighting is essential for all the houses," said a local resident and beneficiary, Berta Espinoza.
The goal is for the measures to be implemented by the end of 2025, with initial results assessable in terms of energy savings and improvements in safety and quality of life.
On the same topic, Camila de la Quintana, Head of Sustainability and Circular Economy at Enel Distribución, pointed out that "This project is tangible proof that energy efficiency not only transforms homes, but also drives climate action, building a fairer and more sustainable future for everyone through solutions that improve the energy conditions of families in Cité Echeverría."
In this way, the Energy Inclusion Program continues to establish itself as a model of public-private partnership with a positive and sustainable impact on people's lives.
