- Hyundai Camiones & Buses and Enel X signed a strategic agreement to strengthen the implementation of electromobility in the small and medium sized entities that purchase the brand's electric trucks. This alliance seeks to promote the shift to electromobility by offering benefits related to product and service integration.
Santiago, June 26, 2024 It is imperative to reduce pollutant truck emissions, and lowering its implementation costs is one of the first steps towards the widespread adoption of the electromobility technology already available in Chile. To this end, Hyundai Camiones & Buses has formed an alliance with Enel X, the business line of the Enel Group dedicated exclusively to electromobility, which offers a range of products and services for different types of fleets.
To facilitate electric charging for customers and users, this alliance will offer new small and medium-sized enterprise clients two types of chargers according to their needs. The first is the Waypump 150 kW, a direct current charging station for electric vehicles that delivers up to 150 kW of charging power with two simultaneous charging ports. The second is the more well-known Waybox DC30, which provides up to 30 kW of charging power with a single charging port.
The delivery of each charging solution will be evaluated in conjunction with the client based on their specific needs, aiming to meet the electricity grid requirements and provide versatility for the users. Through this alliance, Hyundai Camiones & Buses customers will be able to obtain preferential prices and discounts, as well as benefits such as gift cards to use at any Enel X public charger.
Currently, Hyundai Camiones & Buses offers two of the most successful electric cargo models, the Zedo 300EV and the Zedo 300EV Refrigerated. Meanwhile, Enel X has been focusing on facilitating the transition to electromobility with top-tier infrastructure and energy solutions that incorporate this new mode of transport into daily life.
“At Hyundai Camiones & Buses, we believe our Zedo 300EV to be an ambassador of electromobility in zero and low-emission cargo transport, and we believe this alliance with Enel X will significantly make this technology widely available with their charging solutions. We are confident that this alliance will bring more important benefits than merely reducing emissions; it is also about improving the quality of life for our customers and all humanity by living in a pollution-free environment. Electromobility is more than a destination; it is a value proposition, a path that we should all travel,” highlights John Novoa, Divisional Manager of Hyundai Camiones & Buses.
Jean Paul Zalaquett, Electromobility Manager for Latin America at Enel X, notes that “this alliance with Hyundai Camiones & Buses not only represents a significant step towards promoting electromobility in Chile, but also allows us to advance in reducing emissions in cargo transport and establish a new standard in collaboration with companies to promote a more sustainable future. It facilitates the transition to robust and efficient infrastructure, which is essential for the widespread adoption of electric transport in the country.”
The main goal of the alliance between Hyundai Camiones & Buses and Enel X is to develop technology, charging infrastructure, and efficient energy management solutions so that all types of fleets can incorporate their products and services.
To date, Enel X has become a market leader in public transport in Chile, providing charging solutions for 2,423 electric buses, with 12 terminals within the Metropolitan Region through the eBus as-a-service solution. This model has simplified the capital city's energy transition through an integrated solution, where any initial investment is completely replaced by transparent periodic fees, calculated based on predictable costs. Additionally, as part of this project, a total of 2,804 electric charging stations have been implemented.
