Enel Distribución created the Home Electrician Installer Training Project in collaboration with the Universidad Santo Tomás' Continuing Education program with a recent graduation ceremony taking place. This initiative aims to promote the incorporation of women into the electrical industry by providing them with skills to open new and better job opportunities.
The course lasts almost three months with 90 theoretical hours + 100 practical hours, allowing them to conduct safe, reliable, and quality installations and perform their work safely and without risking their lives.
Fourteen women from the Santiago, Lo Espejo, Lo Barnechea, and Maipú districts participated in this training process. In addition, those who pass will be eligible for class D certification before the Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles (Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels). This project aligns with the Ministry of Energy's 2022-2026 Agenda, primarily focused on reducing gender gaps in the electricity industry and implementing training plans focused on women to promote employment and productive retraining in communities in our concession area.
With this action, Enel Distribución confirms its commitment to fulfilling Sustainable Development Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 5, Gender Equality.
