- According to the real estate rental company, the I-REC seal will allow it to reduce its CO2 emissions by almost 13 thousand tons a year, which is equivalent to taking more than 2,500 vehicles out of circulation or planting 15 thousand trees.
Santiago, December 10, 2020. Patio Oficinas -one of Grupo Patio’s five divisions- and Enel Generación signed an agreement to certify more than 16.4 GWh of renewable energy per year, corresponding to 13 office buildings currently managed by the company.
This agreement guarantees that these buildings' energy sources will come from 100% renewable sources, which represents a milestone for Patio Oficinas.
"Being environmentally friendly and managing our impact is one of the pillars of our sustainability strategy. This certification guarantees that we are complying, not only at a national level but also with international standards," said Cristián Menichetti, general manager of Grupo Patio.
Enel Generation’s certification under IREC’s standards is a guarantee of origin recognized worldwide. I-REC standards are accepted in sustainability protocols, supporting clients fulfill their environmental goals.
"This certificate is a tool to minimize business operations’ environmental impact. With I-REC, we make a significant contribution to our clients who are looking for clean energies, and that goes in line with the carbon-neutral process that the company has set itself", said Humberto Espejo, Trading and Commercialization Manager of Enel Generación.
Through this alliance, Patio Oficinas will reduce its CO2 emission by almost 13 thousand tons a year, equivalent to removing about 2,500 vehicles a year or planting 15 thousand trees. The contract will be extended in its first stage until December 2021 and may be renewed annually.
With this certification, Grupo Patio supports the development of environmentally friendly technologies and reduces its carbon footprint.
