This Thursday, October 29th, the hands-on classes began at Enel Distribución’s Center for Operational Excellence with students from Colegio Bicentenario de Lampa as part of the REDES project, organized by the SOFOFA Schools Network, with the goal of contributing to job access and permanence among young people aged 18 to 24.
The alliance between Enel Distribución and the REDES project will give students the chance to gain inside technical knowledge from the company's electric distribution specialists and leverage the infrastructure offered by the Center for Operational Excellence to develop their technical competencies, skills and conduct for working safely in electrical infrastructure, environmental protection and quality customer service.
The initiative is framed within UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 (Decent work and economic growth), and is the product of collaboration between the REDES project and Enel Distribución Chile to create job opportunities for young people by promoting professional routes focused on technical education and training in line with Enel's needs.
This pilot program began last October 21st, with 20 hours of online theoretical training, and will extend to mid-December with 56 hands-on training hours at Enel Distribución’s Center for Operational Excellence.
Enel Distribución’s Center for Operational Excellence
The Center for Operational Excellence (CEO) is a high-tech training and education center specialized in the electric sector, focusing on job safety and the quality of services offered by Enel Distribución and Enel X. Currently, the practice areas for both above ground and underground Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, Commercial Grid Operations and Enel X service installations are active.
The Center, which looks to position itself as the first electric training space in Chile, is open to the general public and offers training on live-scale job techniques, for the purpose of improving the technical quality of fieldwork and the safety of workers and contractors, so as to enhance the quality of service to our customers.
