All of Enel's operations are carried out within a strict framework defined by the Environmental Policy. Projects are designed and operated through a hierarchical strategy, primarily aiming to prevent or avoid significant impacts. Secondly, if impacts cannot be avoided, the aim is to reduce and remedy their effects; and, lastly, to compensate the negative residual impacts, thus ensuring protection of the environment and natural resources and compliance with applicable environmental standards and commitments. Likewise, promoting the sustainability of our products and services is constantly sought after, as well as the creation of value shared by the company and stakeholders.
Innovation is also present in environmental management
Using the Life-Cycle Assessment approach, the most relevant processes are constantly being assessed to seek out and implement the best available solutions to reduce environmental impacts, primarily water and carbon footprints. The Circular Economy is also a strategic pillar for Enel, as innovative solutions are sought to reduce the use of raw materials and natural resources, as well as the amount of waste that goes to landfills for final disposal. This positions Enel Chile as a pioneer in the energy industry in these approaches.
