In 2020, Enel Chile's circular economy area developed the “Circular Cafes” initiative, monthly online instances where participants from the different business lines met, among which were the 14 circular economy leaders, to talk about new business models, innovation, technologies and methods and, in turn, to reflect on the progress and challenges of the circular economy in business, with a look towards society and the environment.
Different external guests collaborated with their knowledge, enriching the conversation and stimulating reflection on relevant topics, towards promoting the transition to the circular economy. Among these the following stand out:
- Law for Extended Producer Responsibility and Promotion of Recycling (EPR), an economic instrument for waste management that compels manufacturers and importers of: lubricating oils, electric and electronic equipment, batteries, containers and packaging and tires, to organize and finance the management of the waste derived from these products.
- Biomimicry: the science that studies and imitates nature as a source of inspiration for innovative technologies towards the solution of human challenges through the design, creation, of systems, structures, processes or materials compatible with the environment.
- Circular Cities, CirculAbility© Model, strategies and business models, among others.
